Fitness Premium Gym Flooring Type XT consists of precision-cut fitness tiles made from rubber granules bonded with polyurethane. There is only a tight joint between the tiles, so the finished floor looks as if it has been poured. Particular attention has been paid to good elasticity. The resilient flooring feels comfortable underfoot and absorbs impacts. Its surface is slip-resistant. The smaller formats also suit outdoor training areas because the tiles are frost-resistant and allow rain to pass through. Functional tiles can be placed beneath the flooring to create a multi-layer system.
What types of training is the flooring suitable for?
This rubber gym flooring is primarily suited to sports and forms of training where good shock absorption matters. This applies especially when training involves falling to the ground or lying on the floor, such as in martial arts or police and military training. You also spend plenty of time on the floor when training in a home gym, at a gym or outdoors. Exercises may involve jumping, landing, kneeling or lying on your back. The resilient flooring absorbs impacts and feels comfortable when kneeling. Its granular surface is slip-resistant. It also reduces noise from footsteps, jumps and weights being set down. Neighbours in the flat below notice less noise too.
What are the tiles made from?
The tiles consist throughout of recycled tyre rubber granules (ELT). The PU binder is colourless. Anthracite is therefore the natural colour of the granules. Gym equipment and weight benches do not leave permanent indentations during normal use. The screed, tiles or parquet beneath remain protected. Outdoors, sunlight can make the colour somewhat lighter over time. Freshly unpacked tiles sometimes smell of rubber, but with good ventilation the smell soon fades.
How are the fitness tiles laid?
The tiles are simply laid in place without drilling, gluing or screwing. The substrate, such as screed, concrete, tiles or parquet, must be stable, largely level and able to support the load over the long term. The tiles can also be laid over underfloor heating. The optimised jigsaw interlock joins the tiles and prevents the edges from lifting. Different formats cannot interlock, so one format is laid in each area. Only the two smaller formats are laid outdoors. Edge tiles are cut with a jigsaw or circular saw. On request and for an additional charge, WARCO can use a DXF file from the laying planner to supply the tiles cut and ready to lay.
How easy is the flooring to clean indoors and outdoors?
Indoors, a vacuum cleaner, broom or mop is enough for routine cleaning. For damp mopping, use warm water and a neutral cleaner. For hygienic cleaning, the tiles can also be wiped with alcohol-based disinfectants. Outdoors, rain passes through the tiles. On a non-porous substrate, the water drains away beneath the tiles, following the gradient. This prevents water from pooling. Frost does not damage the tiles.
What makes the flooring a system?
Functional tiles (Type XX) can be placed beneath the fitness tiles, and several layers can be stacked. They are available in two thicknesses and three densities. A lower density provides greater shock absorption. A higher density supports more weight and suits areas where weights are dropped. This gives each training zone the build-up it needs. For heavy weights, the thicker version of the fitness tiles is also recommended.

Impact-absorbing flooring made from PU-bound rubber granules reduces impact sound and the structure-borne sound it generates. The elastic floor covering absorbs impacts and reduces their transfer to the substrate.
Impact sound occurs when walking, jumping, moving furniture or setting down weights cause a floor or storey slab to vibrate. These vibrations travel through solid building components as structure-borne sound and can become audible as airborne sound in other rooms.
Structure-borne sound can also be caused by machinery and by installations fixed to the building. It may have causes and transmission paths other than impact sound, so it cannot be reduced by a floor covering alone.
Under load, a floor covering made from rubber granules deforms elastically. This deformation transfers the load to the substrate less abruptly, reduces the peak force and, through the covering’s internal damping, further weakens the remaining vibrations.
Sound-insulation tiles reduce excitation of the substrate from footsteps, jumps and impacting objects. Where higher requirements apply, multi-layer flooring systems with functional layers of differing elasticity can further reduce impact transmission. Their effectiveness depends on the properties of each layer, the load applied, and the existing floor or slab structure.
