Frequently asked questions

When must a tiled area be edged?

A tiled area must be edged if there is a risk that the tiles will drift out of place without it. This applies, for example, to interlocking pavers, tiles without a connection system, or tiles with snap connectors. However, if the area is already bordered by structural elements such as walls, curbs, or parapets that prevent the tiles from moving, no additional edging is required.

Where tripping hazards may occur – for instance, when installing fall-protection panels on part of an asphalt surface – these edges should be eliminated using wedge-shaped border elements.

If the tiles feature a connection system that creates a form- or force-fit link, such as puzzle interlocking or concealed puzzle interlocking, additional edging is generally not necessary.
