How is a balcony waterproofed?
Balconies are exposed and vulnerable, and their connection to the building is a common source of damp. Thermal movement, cracks in concrete and leaks at wall junctions are the usual culprits.
A liquid system like ALLESDICHT suits balconies well because it addresses these specific problems. The elastic coating stretches with temperature swings – more than 200 % elongation – and bridges existing cracks without tearing. At the house wall, railings and drain outlet, take the coating up seamlessly. Use reinforcing fabric at these transitions for additional structural support.
Prepare the substrate: concrete, screed or old tiles, all clean and dry and sound. Apply two or three coats to reach a minimum 2 mm thickness. One critical point: get the fall to the drain right before you waterproof. ALLESDICHT follows the slope you create – it won’t correct a poor fall afterwards.
