How do I prevent puddles (standing water) on the substrate?
Floor coverings or edge trims made of rubber granulate are inherently water-resistant and can even be used underwater. However, on a waterproof substrate – such as concrete, roofing felt, waterproofing membrane, tiles or WARCO ALLESDICHT – standing water should be temporarily avoided when covered with a WARCO floor covering.
The depressions (i.e. the puddles in the substrate) are best filled during the installation of the WARCO panels. Under no circumstances should sand, crushed stone, or gravel be used, as these materials cannot be permanently embedded and will eventually float away.
The most reliable and safe method to permanently level out the depressions is to fill them with appropriately cut pieces of roofing felt. These are laid into the depressions in multiple layers without adhesive. The quality of the work can be verified using a long, straight batten, a spirit level, or a metal bar.
Roofing felt offers the advantage of not deteriorating, is easy to work with, lies stable, and is also ideally suited for filling deeper depressions in multiple layers.
