How are irregularities in an unbound base course levelled?
Irregularities in a properly prepared unbound base course are usually levelled with sand or crushed stone. A thin layer of sand or crushed stone is applied to the base course and then screeded smooth. If a slope is required for drainage, it must be taken into account during screeding. However, rubber granulate tiles – such as playground, patio or ballgame tiles – generally cannot be installed on sand, crushed stone, or gravel.
