The 3 cm thick Rubber Kennel Tile Canis Type LZ is made from rubber granules and has a hidden jigsaw interlock. Because the interlock sits below the surface, the joints form straight lines like those of a conventional tiled floor. The finely textured surface is very slip-resistant. The flooring is resilient, water-permeable and frost-resistant.
How do dogs move and rest on the tiles?
In a kennel fitted with Rubber Kennel Tile Canis, a dog may wait, doze in the sun or jump up when someone approaches the enclosure. The grippy surface gives paws and claws good purchase when the dog jumps up or turns, even when wet. The flooring gives slightly under each step and is kinder to paws. When the dog lies down, it is not lying on a cold floor because the tiles insulate against cold from the ground.
What is Rubber Kennel Tile Canis made from?
Rubber Kennel Tile Canis is made from ELT granules. These recycled tyre granules are bonded with polyurethane. The fine to medium granules create a finely textured surface that stands up to claws over time. The flooring does not rot or splinter. New tiles may smell of rubber at first. Outdoors, this smell fades after a short time.
How is Rubber Kennel Tile Canis laid?
The hidden jigsaw interlock of Rubber Kennel Tile Canis sits in a rebate along the underside of the tile edges. Two sides of every tile have the projecting tooth profile. The other two sides have the matching profile. This sets the laying direction. Each tile is placed from above until its rebate rests on that of the neighbouring tile and the teeth engage. The tiles can be laid in a regular grid or with staggered joints. In most cases, neither adhesive nor an edge restraint is needed. The base must remain load-bearing and stable, and it must be largely level. Concrete, paving and asphalt are suitable examples. On grass, soil or gravel, gravel grids filled with grit form the sub-base. Tiles at the edge are cut with a circular saw.
What happens to rain, urine and dirt?
Rain and urine pass through Rubber Kennel Tile Canis. On an impermeable base, water drains away along channels on the underside of the tiles. The area needs a gradient to prevent water from collecting. On gravel grids, water drains into the ground. A broom, garden hose or pressure washer is enough for cleaning. Areas where a dog regularly urinates should be rinsed more often with plenty of water to prevent odours from building up. The tiles can be disinfected when needed. The material is resistant to disinfectants.
Where can Rubber Kennel Tile Canis be used?
Rubber Kennel Tile Canis is suitable for garden kennels, units at boarding establishments and enclosures in animal shelters. It can be used in open and covered areas. The straight joints create a neat, even tiled surface that works well alongside nearby paving or a patio. If an area is altered, the tiles can be lifted and laid again elsewhere.
