The rubber edge restraint is a modular edging element designed to define and secure surface boundaries in playgrounds and landscaped areas. Installed directly onto the prepared base, each unit connects via an articulated joint and is threaded with a continuous steel rod, creating a linked and anchored edge line that remains aligned under everyday use.
Flexible alignment through articulated joints
The integrated joint allows each element to pivot, enabling a wide range of layouts. Straight runs, gentle curves or stepped geometries can be formed without cutting. This flexibility supports precise adaptation to site layouts, including enclosing continuous perimeters or shaping multi-sided play zones with consistent edge definition.
Linking and anchoring with steel rod
Installation is based on a simple mechanical principle: a steel rod is guided through aligned openings in the elements. This rod links the units into a continuous chain while also fixing them in place. Depending on site conditions, the rod can be set into a pad foundation or driven into a suitable base, ensuring the edge line remains stable and correctly positioned.
Installation on various sub-bases
The edge restraint is placed onto the existing surface and does not require a continuous foundation. It can be used on bound bases such as concrete as well as on unbound sub-bases including sand or aggregate. The combination of surface placement and rod anchoring allows straightforward installation while maintaining reliable positioning over time.
Applications in playgrounds and landscape design
Typically projecting above the adjacent surface, the element forms a clear and tactile boundary. It is used to edge sandpits, define play areas or create sit-on edges. In landscape settings, it supports stepped arrangements on slight slopes or the formation of terraces. It can also act as a boundary in parking areas or access routes, where its impact-absorbing properties help reduce collision damage.
