Fire Class Cfl-s1 Surcharge Cfl

WARCO floor coverings made from recycled tyre rubber granules (ELT) achieve fire class Efl as standard to EN 13501-1. In certain categories of public and commercial buildings, however, building regulations require Cfl-s1 classification with limited combustibility and low smoke production. This option allows the selected floor covering to be supplied in fire class Cfl-s1. The surcharge is calculated per square metre.

Building regulation requirements

Certain occupancy categories as well as escape and access routes are subject to fire safety requirements beyond Efl classification. This applies, for example, to event venues, commercial fitness areas, schools, educational facilities, indoor play centres and hotel projects. The required classification for a specific project is defined by the responsible architect or fire safety consultant in accordance with applicable regulations.

Cfl-s1 classification during manufacture

The upgrade from Efl to Cfl-s1 is achieved by adding a fire-retardant additive to the rubber granules and PU binder during the mixing process. Classification is verified by an accredited testing body to EN 13501-1. Elasticity, impact absorption, walking comfort and sound insulation characteristics of the floor covering remain unchanged.

Specified at the time of ordering

The additive can only be incorporated during manufacture. It cannot be applied afterwards as a coating or surface treatment. The Cfl-s1 option must therefore be specified when the order is placed.
