Frequently asked questions

What is gym equipment flooring for a home gym?

Gym equipment flooring is part of a home gym, together with suitable training equipment, storage and sufficient room to move during exercise. The gym flooring should be slip-resistant and planned early in the set-up.

Gym flooring made from PU-bound rubber granules reduces noise and vibration while protecting the substrate. Thinner tiles are often sufficient for cardio equipment, whereas thicker tiles are selected for floor exercises, free-weight areas and heavy equipment.

A starter set includes equipment for pressing, pulling, leg and core exercises. Dumbbells or kettlebells, resistance bands and a pull-up bar form part of the basic equipment, while an adjustable weight bench and an exercise mat add further training options.

For squats, bench presses and deadlifts, add a barbell, weight plates and a rack with safety catches. The rack and pull-up bar should only be fixed to load-bearing structures.

A cardio machine complements endurance training, but is not essential. A stable storage unit and adequate space to move remain important.
