Frequently asked questions

How do I properly cover stair treads or an entire staircase with rubber tiles?

A staircase consists of several steps, each comprising a tread – the horizontal, walkable part – and a riser – the vertical component. In open staircases, the riser is omitted. The most suitable WARCO stair covering depends on the type of staircase:

    - For stairs without a riser and with smooth surfaces, a thin covering is often ideal.

    - For steps with a grid, the covering must be thick enough (at least 30 mm) to sit securely on the grid.

    - For uneven steps (e.g. made of washed concrete) or for outdoor use, a water-permeable covering should be chosen.

Both the tread and the riser can be finished with a WARCO stair covering. Installation is carried out step by step: first, the lowest tread is covered, then the adjacent riser, followed by the next tread, and so on. The tread covering aligns flush with the covering on the riser below. The front edge of the tread is protected from excessive wear by an applied stair edge profile made of metal or plastic, which also conceals the cut edge of the covering.

The stair covering made of rubber granulate tiles is trimmed as needed and adhered in place. The WARCO stair covering is applied using adhesive only, not by screwing or nailing.
