Do rubber tiles need expansion joints?

Rubber tiles made from rubber granules do not require additional expansion joints within the tiled area.

Temperature, moisture and ageing can cause slight dimensional change. Because of their elasticity, the rubber tiles can deform slightly and move against one another, so they do not normally develop the stresses associated with rigid floor coverings.

The rubber tiles are laid continuously, edge to edge, from one perimeter edge to the other. The product-specific installation instructions, including the permitted installation temperatures stated in them, must be followed.
